Caymanian-born, London-based R&B newcomer Maeve has released the striking visuals for new single ‘Eden’, taken from her debut EP Beasts.

Coinciding with the release of Beasts, Maeve was recently announced as a recipient for PRS Momentum Funding, past beneficiaries of which include Years & Years, Little Simz, Ghostpoet & Yungen.

Black Dog Films filmmaker Jade Jackma directed the video. While Liv Lockwood choreographed and Asia styled the visual.

In the hallucinatory visuals, we see Maeve use the medium of dance to convey a message. She illustrates the conflicting emotions that come with an intense relationship. The derelict industrial setting and tortured bestial choreography blend perfectly together. They show both the intense pain and isolation found within a toxic relationship.

Speaking on the single, Maeve explains: “‘Eden’ is about being in a cyclical toxic relationship and finally coming to terms with it for the first time. When I see myself dancing in the video I’m unsure. Unsure if it’s real or if it’s a hallucination.  I’m actually seeing everything clearly for the first time. It’s a realisation of the poisonous cycle that I am in. I knew I wanted to focus on dance in this video and working with Liv helped. I was able to portray the raw and animalistic style I was hoping for.”

‘Eden’ is a record that will only enhance Maeve’s already glowing reputation as a surefire one to watch.
