AGR is the brainchild of founder Alicia Robinson, who’s colourful and rejuvenating takes on knitwear techniques and materials elevates knitwear’s reputation from something that brings to mind your grandma, instead giving it a cool and contemporary lease of life.
For AGR SS22, the brand pulls on inspiration from a range of rich sources to create a collection that Robinson describes as “London on heat”. Within the SS22 collection is a 15 piece capsule in collaboration with Netherlands based Knitwear lab.
The influence of British photographer Martin Parr’s hyper-saturated images of everyday life is channeled through the lookbook where the set, created by Marie Ellas, features sand, ice cream vans and inflatable sea animals that are reminiscent of Parr’s Life’s a Beach photo series. Grid patterned tracksuits and fiery two pieces give a nod to the spirit and style of nineties rave culture, whilst paintings from Mark Rothko and Roy Colmer are referenced and woven into collection.
The collection is optimistic, looking forward in fashion to a fun-fuelled post-lockdown summer, that is simply about lightness, positivity and embracing life.
