Welcome to Mowalola’s SILENT MADNESS [@mowalola]

Mowalola embodies the rockstar, the artist and the poet in her new short film.

It’s Mowalola’s world and we’re just living in it. Central Martin’s Graduate and Nigerian-British Designer Mowalola Ogunlesi releases her new film SILENT MADNESS which was gently teased at her NOW Gallery exhibition back in 2019. Collaborating with photographer and director Jordan Hemingway, she unapologetically celebrates her Nigerian roots and the country’s diverse subcultures in the underground clubbing scene. Through the lens of Yves Tumor, the new short film gives us a glimpse of Mowalola’s new SS20 collection. An explosion of colours & sweaty bodies fill the screen that induces an experience of what could be an interpretation of Dante’s inferno. The artist pulls us into her world and we are intrigued…maybe even a little afraid.

SILENT MADNESS forces truth upon its viewer and makes them feel that there is a need to see beyond the expectations of society. Her freedom and confidence to express herself so boldly has us sitting in anticipation, waiting for her next move. She embodies the rockstar, the artist and the poet. Fashion, art, and music become one thing and like her December 2019 NOW Gallery exhibition, Mowalola wishes to immerse her audience with her world that collaborates music, film, and people.  Her second installation of SILENT MADNESS is planned to be shown at the Paris’s Kaleidoscope Gallery in May 2020. Watch the short film below and keep your eye out for Mowalola’s next big project.
