South East London’s newest rising talent Enny has just dropped visuals to debut single ‘He’s Not Into You’.
‘He’s Not Into You’ dropped just under two weeks ago and Enny has already followed up with the visuals for it. For those who don’t know Enny is a talent on the rise who has been perfecting her craft over the past two years. She has been mentored and worked closely with Hackney based label, studio and creative community, Root 73. Root 73 is also the label she chose to go with for the debut release and have helped her go from YouTube freestyles to live performances at places like London’ Jazz Cafe and appearing on radio.
The song is a comedic take on being interested in someone who isn’t reciprocating, but being self aware of that and despite how ridiculous it seems still hoping it will change. It shows Enny‘s ability to tell a story and that she has the ability to turn on the wit when she wants to as well. This lyrical storytelling showcase is all wrapped up in its laid back melodic production that perfectly balances the rapped verses and the sung chorus. That’s right, Enny can also sing so we are really only scratching the surface of what’s to come from her on ‘He’s Not Into You’.
The visuals do a perfect job of complementing the narrative of ‘He’s Not Into You’ by mimicking its plot. This adds to the immersion of the track and enhances the comedic aspect of the song, especially in some of the more exaggerated bits of acting on the side of the male love interest. The cinematography does a perfect job in getting the narrative across as you could strip the audio and still know exactly what was going on.
Although only her first release Enny has done an incredible job on ‘He’s Not Into You’ by showing just the right amount of what her skillset is. The track is great but also leaves you knowing and wanting more from her. If this release is anything to go by we are going to be in for a treat.
