Friday’s are packed full of releases, these are 5 you should pay particular attention to today.
Five for Friday is back again. Friday is essentially the most important day of the week musically. Friday is also the day that the official charts are announced letting us know who holds the coveted number one position. To make life a little easier this Friday we are giving you 5 of our top picks that have just dropped.
Little Simz – Drop 6
Little Simz is back again with new music with her Drop 6 EP. She did an online listening party for it last night which you can watch back here. The EP has some diverse choices sonically and ranges from experimental beats that blend a few sounds to some more traditional production. Yet regardless of what genre or style Simz floats across the beats all the same, delivering us the content we know and love from her.
Elijah Aike – Don’t Wanna Go
This one could fly under the radar, especially on a Friday, as Elijah Aike isn’t one of the big names we check out for yet. But his new release ‘Don’t Wanna Go’ shows extremely promising signs from the 19 year old who’s gearing up to release his debut EP. On the track we see him add some melody to Drill production similar to the new wave of R&Drill but it’s definitely a unique take that we haven’t heard before.
Gianni Mae – On A High
Gianni Mae‘s new single ‘On A High’ is an intimate Trap/R’n’B joint that tells the story of two loving souls that went through troubled times but finally found each other. It’s about having insecurities, navigating through ups and downs but keeping the faith in love. With ‘On A High’ Gianni Mae sends the message: When you go through tough times together you’ll come out stronger together. In the end everything will be alright.
Easy Life – see you later maybe never (demos)
Easy Life have had a steady rise to where they sit now musically. On this latest drop of two demos we get to see some of what they are best loved for. They are experimental but they do it so well that you can’t help but like what they do even if it isn’t in your typical genre wheelhouse.
Kelly Kiara – Sex Faces
Kelly Kiara raises the bar higher with her brand new single ‘Sex Faces’. An unquestionably seductive track; twisting themes of sexuality, love and lust on a bed of playful production – Kelly Kiara’s follow up to her December release ‘Set Me Up’ is undeniably luring. Speaking on the track, Kelly aptly explains: “Sex faces is unapologetically bold, eccentric and playful”.
