With the UK music scene being a topic of conversation globally, it’s a great time to be a part of the uprising of the London social hemisphere. Our culture is being bought into in various fields including music and fashion and it’s great when people who grew up within the culture use it to inspire themselves in creating events that will spark flash backs of under 18 raves and blazing T2 out your Sony Ericsson on the back of the 329. Eph and Temi from North London brings to you Road Karaoke on Sunday the 7th of May at Junction House. The event will see a playlist of UK music that will tap into your memory bank bringing you back to the days of I’m so Aviard.
Don’t let the title fool you, Road Karaoke is an event for anyone who has a passion for UK genres in music, think Hot since 91 or Hip Hop Karaoke. The inspiration for the event came about when one of the guys was in a car with a female friend and she was reciting the lyrics to a grime song word for word, he had a light bulb moment and decided he was going to create an event where people could come down and celebrate UK music in UK style. With US music taking over our sound waves for what seems like forever it’s great that people are starting to take an interest in home grown talent and investing our energies and support into the development of these artists. The track list will only feature songs from the UK, so think Chipmunk, DJ Ironik and Giggs.
Located in the vibrant area of East London, Road Karaoke is an inclusive event that wants to celebrate the current vibe of London, the creators wanted to take back control of our crafts and curate an experience that no one could articulate better than those of us that were brought up within the culture.
If you think you’ve got what it takes to step to the stage and indulge in the instrumentals of J-hus, Ms Dynamite and Lethal Bizzle then come pick up the mic at Junction House on the 7th of may and tell a friend to tell a friend.
Tickets are priced at £10 & are available at Eventbrite.
