Coronavirus hits London but, we move. Pattern Your Safety With These Top Tips.

Coronavirus (Covid-19) has arrived in the UK and it’s spreading fast.

There have now been 115 confirmed coronavirus cases in the UK and the NHS are bracing themselves for what might be the largest virus outbreak in Europe since the 1918 Spanish Influenza. But fear not! We’ve put together your first line of defense against the infection that will hopefully keep you protected whilst you are on the move

  1. WASH YOUR HANDS

Basic hygiene right? Believe it or not, some people are only just getting used to the idea. This virus is spread through large droplets from coughing and sneezing. IT IS NOT AIR-BORN. But all surfaces where those droplets land are infectious for up to a week. So whether you are in the comfort of your car, using public transport or even taking meetings from your house. Wash your hands with soap and water before you touch your face or eat your food.

2. HANDSHAKING IS NO LONGER A THING

Did your mother ever tell you to keep your hands to yourself? This is the time to finally listen to her. It is difficult to stop doing this, especially if you are in the habit of shaking hands in formal situations. But this might be the perfect time to teach your 50-something-year-old boss to fist bump.

3. DISPOSABLE GLOVES

Just for a moment, think about all the things that you touch with your bare hands when you’re outside the house. Create a barrier between you and all public surfaces.

4. DISINFECTANT WIPES

Yes, this morning I was that person in the cafe. Wiping down my table with Dettol wipes before settling down to drink my morning coffee. You don’t have to go crazy when you are in your own house with disinfectant BUT be wary in public spaces & when using items that available to the rest of the public, like shopping trollies and baskets.

5. HAND SANITIZER

Since news of the outbreak, there has been a global shortage of hand sanitizer. Some opportunistic eBay sellers who caught wind of the demand, are even selling 15ml hand sanitizers for up to £700. If you do manage to get your hands on a bottle, use it immediately after touching contaminated objects.

6. DISPOSABLE TISSUE

It’s cold and flu season! So if you feel the need to cough or sneeze, do so in a disposable tissue and then get rid of it.

7. DISPOSABLE MEDICAL MASKS

Did you know we touch our faces 90 times a day without even realizing it! Medical masks will not prevent you from the coronavirus if someone directly sneezes in your face. But it will stop you from transferring the disease from your hands to your nose or mouth.

We hope these tips help you feel better prepared!

Despite all the jokes surrounding the Coronavirus floating around on social media. This is a matter that should be taken seriously and personal hygiene is the most important thing that we can do to protect ourselves and the people around us.
