Social shaming is something that happens to various degrees for many people, but a group that has it constantly in their face is women. Whether it’s being labelled as sluts, unfit as mother’s for being career oriented, or seen as having a complex for being strong willed, women have their beings suppressed at almost every turn. So whilst sexual liberation is about women reclaiming their bodies, in Eliza‘s music it also embodies reclaiming the entire being of a woman that society tries to limit.

Eliza embodies this outside of the music as well, the images above are taken from an analogue shoot with Ana Rosova. Within which she embodies elements of all of the variety that a woman can be whilst simultaneously embracing her body as an object of power controlled by her. I think it is also nice to note that Ana Rosova is also responsible for the EP’s cover image.

But as much as she is a superwoman she, of course, has her moments. Whilst making Iron Curtain Golden Pussy she still had to deal with her life outside of the music. So whilst she was putting together the project by herself and dealing with more trying times occasionally she’s needed a hand. Luckily she has an amazing support system but through the process of recording she also learnt “The most important thing has been to remind myself to be kind to myself in the way I offer kindness to others.”. A sentiment that I’m sure could be shared by a lot of us.

All in all Iron Curtain Golden Pussy is a great first outing from an exciting talent. You can both turn up to it and get a little intellectual if you decide to really sit with the lyrics, but either way, the project sounds great. Eliza has consistently been working on new music so don’t expect Iron Curtain Golden Pussy to be the new project for too long. I think the last word on this must rightfully go to Miss Legzdina on this one. I asked her what she wanted her name to be associated with and her answer is one you should expect after this EP.
