Friday’s are packed full of releases, these are 5 you should pay particular attention to today.

Five for Friday makes its scheduled appearance. Friday is essentially the most important day of the week musically, and typically a lot of music drops on Friday’s. Friday is also the day that the official charts are announced letting us know who holds the coveted number one position. To make life a little easier this Friday we are giving you 5 of our top picks that have just dropped.

Greg Tisdall – Am I Still On Your Mind

Greg Tisdall is probably not a name that’s on your radar just yet but if he keeps releasing music like this he no doubt will be. The 21 year old multifaceted talent wrote, produced and vocalled ‘Am I Still On Your Mind’. He did have some help on production from Grubby and Cheesemore as well as backing vocals by Hannah Worrall, but it’s still impressive that so early on in his career he is already so hands on. That knack to work across all aspects definitely led to the track being one that instantly connects, and one that can connect with a wide range of audiences. The track taps into Greg‘s Pop sensibilities but also has touches of Funk and R&B running through it. It is one that definitely shouldn’t be missed this Friday.

Miles from Kinshasa – Wearing Smiles

Miles from Kinshasa is the kind of artist you have to love. On his latest visual release ‘Wearing Smiles’ we can see exactly why. Paving a clear lane for himself stylistically and pairing that with well thought out but relatable lyrics makes him a real gem amongst the UK scene. This is just the tip of the iceberg of what Miles has in store as this is actually the first single from his upcoming EP. The melancholic, vulnerable and cathartically honest approach on ‘Wearing Smiles’ whets the appetite for what that project will bring, and personally I can’t wait to hear what the full package will sound like.

Pip Millet – Heavenly Mother

Pip Millett should be a staple for any R&B or Soul lovers. The Manchester native has dropped the visuals to ‘Heavenly Mother’ off of her most recent EP Lost In June. Her unique voice and mature writing style allow for some explorations of difficult topics in a way that is thought provoking without making the records sound too heavy. The visuals to the track were handled by KC Locke, who has worked with the likes of Stormzy and Ed Sheeran, and provides a delightful visual backdrop that only enhances the song further. The total package on this one is just perfect from the catchy vocals to the cinematic feel of the visuals.

Scuti – This Is Skoo

This Is Skoo is your chance to get to know Scuti before she really takes off. The emerging talent has a very unique sound that clearly marks her out as making her own wave. She has been working the performance circuit and putting out tracks, cultivating an ever growing following. With this new project you get the opportunity to see all of what Scuti is about and though sometimes it sounds like music to turn up to, more often than not there’s a deeper meaning in the content. Lyrically talented and unafraid of truly showcasing herself you can’t help but get drawn into Scuti‘s world. This Is Skoo needs to be in your rotation over the weekend.

Miraa May – Say Yeah

Miraa May enlists one of if not the most talented male vocalist in the UK, Haile, for ‘Say Yeah’. It seemed to drop out of nowhere but even in its less than 24 hours of being out the track has been receiving the warmest of receptions on social media. For this one, I think the music really does a lot of the talking for it. On your first listen you’ll want to wheel it up and by the end of that first listen, however many wheel ups in, you’ll want the track on repeat. It’s a perfect vibe for the weekend and a real summer anthem that you can cruise too or get your little two step on to in a function (socially distanced of course).
