Five For Friday ft [@OfficialDolapo], [@Central_Cee], [@OfficialChip], + more

Five For Friday makes it’s return in 2021 and these are the first 5 releases you need to pay attention to.

Five for Friday is back again giving you 5 great tracks/projects for your Friday. Friday is essentially the most important day of the week musically, and typically a lot of music drops on Friday’s. Friday is also the day that the official charts are announced letting us know who holds the coveted number one position. To make life a little easier this Friday we are giving you 5 of our top picks that have just dropped.

Central Cee – Pinging (6 Figures)

After having a huge hit on his hands with his last single of 2020, ‘Loading’, Central Cee is kicking off the year keeping that momentum going. ‘Pinging (6 Figures)’ taps into the same formula that garnered his previous release such success and popularity. There’s an easy to remember, and more importantly, catchy hook alongside clever and occasionally cheeky wordplay all laced over great production. Speaking of the production, the Eastern-influenced melody immediately draws attention amidst the darker production typically associated with Drill. This is just the start of things to come as Central Cee is soon to be dropping his Wild West project,

Dolapo ft. Ms Banks, Oxlade – Interest

This one is for the ladies and has R&B songstress Dolapo bringing together staple of the scene Ms Banks and Nigerian rising star Oxlade. Dolapo‘s vocals shine throughout the track and despite her sticking to her R&B sensibilities the record feels more like an Afrobeats one largely down to he production. Speaking on the record Dolapo said “Interest is a song for the Ladies, the IT girls. We know what we bring to the table and the ball is forever in our court. We’re only giving time & energy to a guy if he can match that. Until then, it’s all just fun & games”.

Chip ft. Young Adz, Young M.A – Lumidee

Chip is not taking it easy this year at all. He kicked off the year with ‘Notorious’ working with his one time rival Bugzy Malone and is a week later back with another huge track. ‘Lumidee’ see’s a return to collaborating with Young Adz, with the pair having released their joint project with Skepta Insomnia last year, as well as enlisting New York star Young M.A. This is the first single from Chip‘s upcoming Snakes & Ladders project and if this smooth international Rap anthem is anything to go by, we are going to be seeing a great body of work from Chip in the very near future.

SHIKA – Pisces Girl

Despite ‘Pisces Girl’ only being SHIKA‘s second release the global nomad is doing a great job of showcasing who she is and why we should be paying attention. Having spent time in Tokyo, Dubai, Australia and London just to name a few of the places she’s resided, SHIKA has a sound that doesn’t feel tied to any one place. For some this could be a bad thing, for SHIKA it’s absolutely not. Rather than having a local sound her sound feels more global and like it would appeal to a wide range of audiences. This latest record is testament to that and has elements of lo-fi, R&B and more and her dark-toned vocals really resonate with that breezy production.

Issey Cross – Who

As a debut single ‘Who’ does an incredible job of introducing Issey Cross. The track is comfortably in the realm of left-pop/alt-pop, think Billie Eilish but darker and with more electronic influenced production. From the very first line she sings, Issey will capture your attention with vocals that cut a sharp contrast against the production on the record. Whilst it’s way too early to make any big predictions, what can be definitely said is that Issey has something special about her and the potential to be very successful.
