BS6 is a 4 track collaborative EP between Hyroglifics and Sinistarr.
Hooversound is the label started by DJ’s Sherelle and Naina and BS6 is just the start of things to come. Sherelle made big waves across the scene last year and rounded it off securing a residency spot on BBC Radio 1. Naina has been buzzing just as much with a show on Reprezent and as well as at Beats 1. The two came together to found Hooversound and today have had their debut release courtesy of Hyroglifics and Sinistarr.
BS6 makes you wish it was summer already (minus the coronavirus). It’s blend of genres and quality provided by the two DJ/producers from the opposite sides of the pond make it a must hear release. It could sit perfectly in the club scene in the UK or abroad just as much as it would be the perfect festival soundtrack. It has elements of Techno, Footwork, and Jungle as well as a special GQOM remix provided by Scratcha DVA.
Bristol’s Hyroglifics and Detroit’s Sinistarr come together extremely well, especially on lead track ‘BS6’. As much as it is a mix of the aforementioned genres, part of me really wants to see a Grime MC like P Money tackle the beat as it feels primed for that after the drop. Beyond the lead track, the producing pair come together on track 2 ‘Turn It Up’ before each offering up solo efforts.
BS6 is a release people just need to give it a chance, even if it doesn’t initially seem like it will be their cup of tea based on the genres. It is a taster as to what is going on in the more electronic scenes, put together by two of the ‘urban’ scenes tastemakers and freshest talents. It is an opportunity to broaden music horizons of fans, and most importantly it is a collection of good music.
