How The Fashion Industry Is Helping Fight The Coronavirus

During this time it’s important for us to consider how the coronavirus is affecting communities around the world and how powerhouse companies can help. Many individuals within the fashion industry have stepped up and provided various means to help those in need. Here are just a few of the companies providing relief, showing the world that the fashion industry is not willing to remain silent during a global crisis but using the industries wealth to make a difference.

Following suit to Pyer Moss, Ralph Lauren has donated $10 million to help communities who have been hit hard by the virus. The company also announced it will help create facemasks and personal protective equipment for frontline medical staff in Europe.

Founder of Fenty and singer Rihanna has also donated $5 million towards communities who have been hit hard by various side effects of the Coronavirus, through her charity The Clara Lionel Foundation. Funds will be going towards food banks in economically affected areas as well as testing and care to countries such as Haiti, Malawi as well as a large donation of  $700,000 to purchase ventilators for her home country Barbados.

Gucci is also participating in giving a helping hand, with plenty of resources the company was able to donate 2 million euros to the cause, Here’s what the brand has promised to do.“Gucci will stand with its global community to fight the COVID-19 pandemic by making two separate donations to crowdfunding campaigns: locally, in Italy where the company is based, for the Italian Civil Protection Department (Protezione Civile) in partnership with Intesa Sanpaolo; and globally, for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund in support of the World Health Organization, through a matching campaign with Facebook.”
