KDVSGOLIATH [@kdvsgoliath] drops brand new track ‘Piston’

KDVSGOLIATH drops visuals to ‘Piston’ after sigining to independent label Graduation Records.

‘Piston’ is the latest drop from Ethiopian born hot prospect KDVSGOLIATH, who is looking like he could be Rap’s newest rockstar. Although originally coming out of Addis-Ababa in Ethiopia, he made the move over to London and has been building an impressive buzz. His sound isn’t what would be considered mainstream, ‘Piston’ in particular sounds very experimental amongst the Rap landscape. KD and his sound have the potential to really create a storm at live performances, and that’s a powerful tool for any new artist to have.

On ‘Piston’ we get something completely out of the ordinary in terms of sound. It’s hard to even come up with a comparison to KD, he’s that eclectic. There are definite Travis Scott type vibes but with a London swag to it and context, and even then there’s more than just Travis influences. The ominous Trap production on the track creates a bed where almost anything could have been said. It could have been a track that hit all of Rap’s tropes, but instead despite being only 20 KD chose to let there be a conscious message that runs beneath the street one.

On the visuals side of things, KD enlisted one of London’s biggest and well respected young talents Kaylum Dennis. Kaylum who has shot for the likes of Stormzy, Smoke Boys and more brings his highly sought after skillset to give the ‘Piston’ visuals a top-class polish. What helps is that the choice of locations was spot on, particularly the lavish house which provided a great backdrop for the party vibes KD and his boy brought. This fun vibe they created for the video gives a glimpse at what the track could do at a show, and it’s honestly very impressive.

You can definitely expect more in 2020 from KDVSGOLIATH, there are several releases he has planned including a debut project coming at some point. He is an exciting talent and we’ve seen what being different to the mainstream can do in people like Octavian and Kojey Radical. Should he build up some momentum and consistency with releases, KD could be a star.
