Some of us here in the UK perhaps haven’t heard of the British- Jordanian hip hop maestro Antix.
Since 2010, rapper Antix has released two mixtapes but struggled to fit in with the UK hip hop scene. Yet, Antix still comes through with quick witted bars and his willingness to discuss political and personal issues mean he has built a consistent catalogue with messages that will remain relevant. His recent move to the US has brought him a large and fast growing following, with streaming figures at 3 million and counting.
I was always trying to be ‘accepted’ by some scene, until I realised that the fans are all that matter. People message me now and tell me my music saved their life, helped them with depression, things like that. You soon realise how important that is…
As an unconventional rapper, his music has always stood proud as he shuns the bravado that comes with the conventional image of a rapper, more in lieu with new wave hip hop artists like Logic.
Recharged, Antix returns with his new track “Shook” – a mission statement on determination in the face of adversity.
The latest offering ‘Shook’, with its low fi, hazy beats and clever lyricism, looks set to keep those numbers growing.
Antix is here and he has something to say, I for one am ready to hear him out.
Have a listen
