The New Face of British Fashion, Edward Enninful

The New Face of British Fashion, Edward Enninful

What a way to start the week.

Edward Enninful, has been named new Editor-in-Chief at British Vogue, by publishing house Conde Nast yesterday.

The announcement has been received and celebrated across the industry and seen as progression for an industry constantly criticized for not being inclusive and representing diversity. And for an industry massively influenced by many different cultures, it’s about time the fashion bible was headed by someone who embodies just that.

Conde Nast’s International chairman and chief executive, Jonathan Newhouse, described him as “an influential figure in the communities of fashion, Hollywood and music which shape the cultural zeitgeist,” and that “by virtue of his talent and experience, Edward is supremely prepared to assume the responsibility of British Vogue.”

The news comes as another win for Africa with a Ghanian-born man taking the most prestigious seat in fashion. Enninful currently holds the position as the Fashion and Creative director at W Magazine, a post he has held since 2011. After starting his career as a model at the age of 16, Enninful will succeed Alexandra Shulman on the 1st August 2017.

We congratulate Edward Enninful on his new position at Vogue.
