Abigail Ajobi released her official first collection ‘Those Who Don’t Hear Must Feel’ on October 1st marking the beginning of Black History Month and Nigerian independence day. The Nigerian Designer references the Broadwater Farm riots in particular as well as other periods of unrest and tension in Black British history in her designs. Inspired by the riot gear signifying civilians vs the law, the military silhouette are functional and perfect for the transitional season.

This year marks 60 years since the iconic British brand released their 1460 airwair Dr. Martens which got its name from the date it was released, April 1st 1960. To mark the occasion they will release a shoe collaboration with a different brand every month of this year. Last week saw them release a glam punk take by Marc Jacobs on the classic 1460s which were made vegan friendly, a testament to Dr. Martens ability to move with the times and always be a symbol of the zeitgeist.

Pyer Moss is a brand that is consistently vocal about how racism as well as social issues affect African Americans through their clothing. Today Pyer Moss drops Collection 3 after the release of some beautiful campaign images as part of his ongoing project Open Studio. The project enlists friends of the brands, customers as well as creative collaborators to create the images which make up the campaign reminiscent of Deanna Lawson’s portraits but make it high fashion.

Free the Youth and Crudo Volta have collaborated to bring you the capsule collection Free Borga – Heaven’s Gate No Bribe. Free Borga is a capsule collection across music and fashion, inspired by the Ghanaian Borga Highlife genre, that includes t-shirts made in Accra, Ghana alongside an original music compilation of artists and producers of West African heritage. T-shirts are available to pre-order now although the official release of the entire collection is the 30.10.20.
