Stormzy’s #Merky Books Calls For Young Aspiring Writers for 2020 [@MerkyBooks]

Writers between 16 and 30 years old, will have the opportunity to win a publishing account with #Merky Books.

Stormzy’s #Merky Books publishing imprint has announced the second edition of its annual New Writers’ Prize. A competition that aims to discover unpublished, underrepresented writers aged 16-30 from the UK, and ROI. The prize is launched in partnership with WeTransfer and The Face.

The New Writers’ Prize competition is open to writers between the ages of 16 and 30 across the UK and Republic of Ireland. The longlisted writers will be invited to their Writers’ Camp where they will be able to meet literary agents, bestselling authors, learn more about the publishing process through panel talks and workshops, receive personalised one-to-one feedback from Penguin Random House UK editors, and meet the #Merky Books team.

The 2020 Prize Winner will receive a publishing contract with #Merky Books and the chance to write a Literally essay to feature on WePresent in the Spring of 2021.

Judges on the panel will include Stormzy, author and founder of Make Motherhood Diverse Candice Brathwaite, author and broadcaster Emma Dabiri, comedian and actor Guz Khan, and British Olympian Heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson.

To enter, fill out the official application form. Entrants must submit either a 200-word synopsis and 1,500-word extract (for fiction or non-fiction), or a 200-word synopsis and 500-word extract (for poetry). Entry closes midnight, October 30 2020.
