Five For Friday is back again with 5 releases from the past week you should pay attention to.

Five For Friday is back again giving you 5 great tracks/projects for your Friday. Friday is essentially the most important day of the week musically, and typically a lot of music drops on Friday’s. Friday is the day that the official charts are announced, which lets us know who holds the coveted number one position. We’ve had another very busy week of great music so to make life a little easier this Friday we are giving you 5 of our top picks that have recently dropped to start off your weekend listening.

Gxnxsis ft. GBNGA – Clutch

Gxnxsis has dropped a smooth banger in the form of ‘Clutch’ and enlisted the equally vibes led GBNGA for it. This is Gxnxsis‘ second single of 2021 but his first music video in three years and it has definitely been worth the wait for his fans. This is one of those tracks that Five For Friday was made for, it has quality in abundance, brings a bouncy vibe and both artists deliver slick and tight verses alongside a catchy hook – but because neither artist is necessarily the biggest its a track that could easily get overlooked. It definitely shouldn’t be though and I’m sure plenty of you will be adding it to your playlists after the first listen.

Stalk Ashley – Summer 16

Stalk Ashley is one of my favourite new artists to have emerged in the past year and on ‘Summer 16’ she again proves why she has garnered so much attention. The track shows more of her R&B sensibilities but don’t let that fool you, her breakout track ‘Young’ showed how she manages to blend her Jamaican heritage, and by extension Dancehall music, into her unique brand of R&B. She is a talent that cannot be slept on and this latest record shows her in one of her most vulnerable outings to date. Speaking on the record Ashley says:

“For most people, Summer sixteen was such a badass year that it kinda feels like life went south after. As we reflect on that summer, I want to encourage people to be more appreciative of the people around you and the things around you while you have them around, you never know how hard a glow up can hit or how things can really change. Don’t ever take anything or anyone for granted.”

Mnelia – My Bad

Mnelia is back again bringing through that 90s/early 00s R&B nostalgia on her latest drop ‘My Bad’. It is an anthem about knowing your worth and moving on from past relationships without a second thought. More than that ‘My Bad’ symbolises Mnelia putting her foot on the accelerator and teasing us before she goes full throttle with what’s to come. This is an artist who is on the tip of everyone’s tongue and on your favourite artist’s mood board; eager to see what she does next. 

Kranium Ft. Young T & Bugsey – Life of The Party

It’s Carnival Weekend (or it should be but covid is still stealing joy) so it’s only right to have a more party oriented track to come from one of the Caribbean islands biggest names. ‘Life of The Party’ sees Kranium once again showcasing his unique ability to blend melodies and bridge genres. With this particular single, you experience the melodic Dancehall vibe fans know and love, with hints of Hip Hop. It’s this approach and stimulating vocal talents that set him apart from his peers. The track’s irresistible verse and hook are further featured in an all-new acoustic medley of Kranium’s biggest hits, streaming now at his YouTube channel here.
