Five For Friday ft. [@KarimThaPeasant], [@TE_dness] + more

Friday’s are packed full of releases, these are 5 you should pay particular attention to today.

Five for Friday is back again. Friday is essentially the most important day of the week musically. Friday is also the day that the official charts are announced letting us know who holds the coveted number one position. To make life a little easier this Friday we are giving you 5 of our top picks that have dropped today.

Enny – He’s Not Into You

‘He’s Not Into You’ is the first release from a young but extremely talented star Enny. The track is an anthem that I think will trigger a woman or two in its content. It details what it’s like wanting a guy that’s not interested because he already has a girl, no surprises given the title, but it is upbeat and almost tongue in cheek with it. It’s a breath of fresh air and a great first single from Enny.

Ind¡g0 – Orbit

‘Orbit’ is another debut single, this time from Ind¡g0. She draws inspiration from all things out of this world as well as an eclectic mix of alternative artists creating a unique space for herself to occupy. Her genre-defying style floats somewhere between future-soul and downtempo-electronica. She brings this through on ‘Orbit’ in impressive fashion, and definitely pegs her as a talent we need to be watching out for.

TE dness – April Showers 3

TE dness is back with the third instalment to his April Showers series of mixtapes. As with all good trilogies, the levels have been raised each and every time. The hunger was clearly very strong here and he’s managed to deliver an incredible 16 track body of work with an impressive list of features. But TE more than holds his own and delivers a project any rap fan will appreciate.

KarimThaPeasant – LOLA

‘LOLA’ is the jumpy follow-up track to ‘Legacy’ by KarimThaPeasant, a track which had got a wide amount of attention from the likes of Toddla T, Mistajam, Manny Norté and more. This new track draws on some imagery from what must now be considered a childhood classic, Shark Tale. The track has already been previewed at his shows and it has been going off. This is just the start of things to come as Karim has a project on the way with ‘LOLA’ being the first single from it.

Olivia Swann – Salty

This last entry sounds like one thing but it’s really something completely different. On ‘Salty’ Olivia Swann plays on the imagery of a breakup when in fact what she’s really talking about is trainers. It’s a well executed and quirky track that combines a laid back, West Coast groove, sophisticated R&B vocal production with a syncopated melodic line that’s entirely her own. This is actually another debut and in terms of songwriting and direction shows great promise for Olivia.
