“The violin makes me feel free” – 4stringsz [@fourstringsz]

Violinist, Composer & Producer 4stringsz on his origins & creative process.

South London bred musician 4stringsz joined us at GUAP studios to talk to us about his creative process. 4stringsz, like many artists of this generation, wears many hats. As a violinist, film score composer, and producer his cool confidence as he walks on set is deceptive to how much work goes on behind the scenes. To a novice like me, I can only watch in curiosity and admiration as he removes his custom-made violin shaped like the letter ‘S’ out of its casing. The room goes silent and I see him take a breath, as he brings it up to position. 4stringsz may wear many hats but in the presence of a violin, he is well and truly an artist.

It kind of falls into place when you figure out what your lane is.

4Stringsz

4Stringsz reveals that he has four reasons why he calls himself by his unique stage name. He explains that he is the proud owner of four violins, started playing violin at the age of four, the instrument coincidently has four strings and he has four reasons as to why his passion for music has brought him to the place he is today.

For me the violin makes me feel free. Like I’m in space, I just zone out.

4Stringsz

4Stringsz’s tale is one of an artist finding his calling. He says, “I remember there was a day in school where we could all pick an instrument that we wanted to play, I remember smelling the violin, smelling the wood and thinking, that’s a bit of me”. At only four years old, 4Stringsz found his passion. His description of holding a violin for the first time is something that you could imagine Picasso feeling when he picked up his first paintbrush. Or when Shakespeare first learned how to write. 4Stringsz’s origins are inspiring and relatable to any other person from South London, as he exhibits that everyone has the potential to find whatever it is that connects them to the world and themselves.
